A large planting scheme in which Kristina Clode Garden Design reshaped and enlarged the borders in a garden around a series of curvaceous lawn spaces is featured in the August 2023 issue of Gardens Illustrated Magazine. The article titled 'All Change' is written by Stephanie Donaldson with photos by Abigail Rex.
The article explains how we reused all the existing planting in the new scheme, together with a host of new plants and created some 'dry zone' borders for drought tolerant plants by incorporating a deep layer of grit into the beds. All the borders contained a mixed planting of trees, shrubs, perennials, ornamental grasses and bulbs, as well as some self seeding biennials and annuals such as evening primrose, viper's bugloss and Californian poppy. Mixed borders give height, structure and interest year round and are fantastic habitat for wildlife. Read more in the article:
